Background:
Kareem Devlin is a singer/songwriter from New York City. At the age of 15, Kareem was signed with his high school band Mazard to Warner Brothers Records., after the breakup of Mazard, Devlin went on to play guitar, produce, and co-write with numerous established recording artists from New York, Los Angeles and Nashville as well as touring the United States. Although Devlin was making quite a name for himself, he decided it was time to focus on making his mark as a solo artist so; he headed back home to New York. In the winter of 2000 he independently released his solo debut EP, Contact. Since the release of Contact, he is quickly becoming a local and Internet fan favorite.
Buzz:
Devlin's song "Marie" was featured on the Tommy Hilfiger Color CD launching their new cosmetics line. His song "Contact" was handpicked by Timothy B. Schmit (Eagles) for use on an upcoming record. He has produced re-mixes for Sony Records, and has a track on an upcoming John Lee Hooker tribute album. Kareem has just finished lending his unique guitar and bass playing skills to a new Maverick Records recording artists debut, produced by the Berman Brothers.
Kareem has been compared to the likes of Springsteen, The goo goo dolls and John Mellencamp. His personal style is distinctive; Kareem is a modern day singer/songwriter with vintage rock flair. His on stage presence has drawn comparisons to legends from Jim Morrisson to Jimi Hendrix.
With a solid NYC fan base, Devlin's live shows are a high-energy treat. He belts out crowd favorites like "The bartender" while controlling the crowd with his captivating stage-presence. Backed up by radio friendly songs and a high-powered all-star band; Keith Golden (Dido) on bass, Joe Bonadio (Martin Sexton) on drums and Tim Beattie (Marry me Jane) on harmonica, Devlin is a man full of surprises, looking to start a rock-n-roll revolution.
Locally he has been featured as a buzz worthy artist on NJ's Radio Crystal Blue and his live show will be featured on the next season of the cable television show Access Central.
Five songs off Contact have found themselves in the top 10 on various internet charts over 50 times in the last year in the US, Italy, France, Spain, Australia, Switzerland, Canada, Austria and the UK, as well as receiving heavy rotation on various internet radio stations.
"The Bartender" is currently #4 on Mtvundiscovered.com's rock chart and "Contact" and "Twilight " have spent multiple weeks at #1 in the US, UK, Canada and France on internet charts like Besonic.com, France Mp3.com and Artistlaunch.com
